8 graham crackers, broken into pieces
1 (3.9 oz.) box instant chocolate pudding
2 cups cold milk
1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow cream
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
Directions
In a medium bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk. Refrigerate for a few minutes. Meanwhile, divide half of the broken graham cracker pieces between 4 small glass dessert dishes. Spoon a scant 1/4 cup of chocolate pudding into each dish and spread to the edges. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of marshmallow cream into each dish. Repeat the graham cracker and chocolate pudding layers. Top each dish with a handful of miniature marshmallows. If desired, toast marshmallows with a torch (I actually used one of those long butane lighters).
Let's Dish
National S'mores Day is August 10, and if you want to celebrate the classic summer treat with a no fuss dessert, this is the way to go. These trifles take minutes to put together, but have a big wow factor. The hardest part is getting the marshmallow cream off the spoon and into the dessert dishes. Although I don't own a culinary torch, I couldn't resist a toasted marshmallow top, so I used one of our long butane lighters. I also thought about popping the trifles under a very hot broiler, but I wasn't sure how the heat would affect the rest of the dessert. It might be worth a try though. Of course, this is more of an idea than a recipe, so you could always skip the toasting. Or just use more marshmallow cream on top--maybe with some chocolate shavings for garnish. Any sort of glass dish will work (I got mine at Walmart, so don't think you have to go out and buy something expensive), but you may have to use more or less ingredients depending on the size. Above all, have fun and enjoy celebrating National S'mores Day.
