WELCOME TO MY ONLINE RECIPE COLLECTION

I love to cook (and take pictures) and this is where I dish about my favorite foods and how to make them.

I feed three hungry, often picky boys and a hungry husband every day, so I try to keep things simple. I rarely cook anything that takes a long time or has a long list of ingredients.

Some of the recipes are original creations.  Others are my adaptations of recipes I've collected over the years. You'll find recipes from friends, favorite cookbooks and food blogs, and a few special recipes that have been handed down from grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Click on "Recipe Index" on the top menu for an alphabetized index of all my recipes.  I don't like scrolling way, way down the page to get to the recipe, so I post the recipe first and tell you about it afterwards.

I've also included some of my favorite food blogs and helpful cooking websites.  For those of you who are interested in the photography as much as the food, I take my photos with a Canon 40D or 50D, equipped with either a Canon 50mm f/1.8 or a Tamron 17-50mm/2.8.

I prefer to use natural light whenever possible because it makes the food look so much more . . . well, natural.  But there are certain times of the year when dinner isn't ready until well after dark.  That's when I put on my Canon Speedlight 430 EX flash. The best of my food photography can be purchased for stock usage here.  Or I guess if you really wanted to, you could frame it and hang it on your wall.

Please feel free to share your favorite recipes and cooking adventures with me. And if you try a recipe and enjoy it (or even if you don't) please feel free to leave a comment or rating.  Thanks for visiting!

Enjoy cooking,
Danelle

COOKING RESOURCES

Some great websites to help you with everything from basic cooking skills to publishing your own cookbook.

This page from Butterball includes several measurement conversion charts and handy calculators to help you plan how much holiday turkey to buy and how long to cook it.

Create a beautiful, professional looking cookbook with your own recipes and photos.  Great for gifts, or for yourself.  Tastebook is a great place to store your recipes online and also has links to lots of great cooking and recipe sites.

An online food library with information on how long foods will stay fresh and be safe to eat.  Includes tips on the best way to store food and what those "best by" dates really mean.

FAVORITE FOOD BLOGS

Some of my favorite food blogs and websites:

With over 100 cookbooks in her recipe collection, Heidi Swanson offers lots of vegetarian fare made with natural ingredients and whole foods.

One of the most beautiful food blogs I've come across . . . from a 17 year-old Seattle high school student.  Not only is she a talented cook, she's also talented writer and photographer.

A huge online recipe collection with lots of reader reviews and feedback.

Most famous for her cake pops, Bakerella offers "sweet inspiration and fun baking ideas."

Erin's blog is full of fun recipes and photos, plus lots of cookbook reviews.
Features recipes from all of your favorite cooking show personalities, including Giada De Laurentiis, Bobby Flay, Paula Dean and Rachael Ray.

Lots of yummy baked treats with some other recipes thrown in for good measure.

A Texas transplant living in New York City, Homesick Texan dishes up Texas style favorites, with lots of beautiful photographs to boot.

Jacob's Kitchen
"Stylish comfort food at it's best" is the way Jacob describes his recipes.  It's a good think I don't live in Oregon, or I'd be ordering his baked goods far too often.  He's won quite a few state fair ribbons.  And all of his recipes are beautifully photographed too.

You guessed it, Joy is a baker.  She shares recipes, favorite kitchen gadgets, travel stories and musings on life.

Be careful, you could gain ten pounds just looking at the beautiful photos of Monica's yummy creations.  Makes me want to bake something every time I visit!

My Recipes
Organize and save recipes online.  Featuring recipes from well-known magazines like Cooking Light, Southern Living and Real Simple.

Mary shares simple, inexpensive and easy to prepare food.  The stories behind the recipes are just as fabulous as the food itself.

Molly Wizenburg veteran food blogger who started posting recipes back in 2004.  Her recipes, writing and photography are all top-notch.

Picky Palate
Jenny, a veteran of many cooking competitions, offers lots of original, family friendly recipes.  Her baked creations are especially appealing.

Pioneer Woman
In between cooking for hungry cowboys and children on a working cattle ranch, Ree Drummond manages to squeeze in photography, home-schooling, home decorating and gardening.

Smitten Kitchen
Great food, great writing and great photography.  Not only does Deb share her recipes, she offers lots of handy cooking advice too.
