I love to cook (and take pictures) and this is where I dish about my favorite foods and how to make them. I feed three hungry, often picky boys and a hungry husband every day, so I try to keep things simple. I rarely cook anything that takes a long time or has a long list of ingredients.
Some of the recipes are original creations. Others are my adaptations of recipes I've collected over the years. You'll find recipes from friends, favorite cookbooks and food blogs, and a few special recipes that have been handed down from grandmothers and great-grandmothers. I don't like scrolling way, way down the page to get to the recipe, so I post the recipe first and tell you about it afterwards.
On Saturday mornings from May to October, you can usually find me at the local farmers market. I love having access to all of that fresh, locally grown Colorado produce. If there's a farmers market where you live, I highly recommend checking it out!
I have a degree in Advertising from Brigham Young University, and I'm always using what I learned there in my daily creative endeavors. For those of you who are interested in the photography as much as the food, I take my photos with a Canon 7D, usually equipped with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I prefer to use natural light whenever possible because it makes the food look so much more . . . well, natural. But there are certain times of the year when dinner isn't ready until well after dark. That's when I put on my Canon Speedlight 430 EX flash.
Please feel free to share your favorite recipes and cooking adventures with me. And if you try a recipe and enjoy it (or even if you don't) please feel free to leave a comment or email me at momoutnumbered{at}gmail{dot}com. Thanks for visiting!

Hi, I'm Danelle and this is where I dish about my favorite recipes and how to make them. Have a look around. I hope you'll find some of your favorite dishes here too!

Hi Danielle! I just found your blog through tastespotting and I like what I see. I also like to make simpler things, without a ton of ingredients or super expensive either. Thanks for the tips on your camera!

Danelle, i have a question for you since you are a food photography expert. I live in a basement apartment that doesn't get great natural light through windows. Is my best bet for a good pic to take my food outside to photograph?
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog this morning while looking for a recipe for Nanaimo Bars. I can't wait to try some of your recipes. They all look great.
ReplyDeleteHi Danelle, I came by way of FTLOB and glad I did! Your blog is gorgeous! And the recipes - I can't wait to try them. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteI found your comment after you commented on my blog(Wife or Something Like it) and now I am obsessed with yours! I wish I had your photography skills! You're amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love love love your blog and your recipes <3
ReplyDeleteHi Danelle! I love your blog and it has enspired me to start a recipe blog of my own. Your recipes are amazing! Can I post some of them to my blog page to share as long as I credit you as where I got it originally? Just made your cheesy basil stuffed chicken and it was amazing. My family and I look forward to using more.
ReplyDeleteDanelle - I am loving your blog! I'm curious if you live in Utah only because it's where I currently live and I have a really hard time baking (I'm originally from Oregon). If your recipes are already high altitude based, then that will make my life way easier! Happy cooking.
ReplyDeleteMary, I live in Colorado (but we used to live in Victoria, BC, so I know how you feel). My recipes aren't necessarily adapted for high altitude, although I have made my own changes to several. But they are all recipes that seem to work for me here.
